The Elizabeth Rothenbusch Concerto Competition

The Elizabeth Rothenbusch Concerto Competition was established in memory of long-term violin faculty member Elizabeth Rothenbusch. The purpose of the competition is to award scholarships to outstanding concerto competition winners and to encourage our students “to play skillfully before the Lord” (Psalm 33:3).

All students of the Kentucky Christian String Camp are invited to enter the Concerto Competition, held online two weeks prior to camp. There will be a runner-up and a winner, and the latter will be invited to play their winning concerto at the final concert on Friday night.

GUIDELINES:

The deadline to enter is now June 8th. Please verify the availability of your concerto in advance of entering the competition. Orchestral parts that are difficult to acquire or too difficult to perform with limited rehearsal time may not be considered. Please consult your private teacher on this matter. Your entire selection should not exceed 12 minutes.

Contestants must register for String Camp online and submit an audition recording by June 1st by sending an email with the YouTube link directly to infostrings.KYCSC@gmail.com. We prefer to receive links to YouTube videos rather than large video/audio files, as it eliminates any format reading issues. We recommend uploading your files to YouTube as “unlisted”; this allows us to view them when provided the link, but does not make them public. We will announce the winners on Monday, June 3rd.

PRIZES:

1st Place - Free Scholarship to KYCSC 2025 and Certificate (if 12th grade, may be transferred to younger sibling or family friend).

Runner Up - Half Scholarship to KYCSC 2025 and Certificate (if 12th grade, may be transferred to younger sibling or family friend).
